Beach walk with friends

With friends staying its the opportunity to do things we don't usually get around to so a late morning walk along Rabbit Island beach before lunch was in order. A midday high tide at 4.3 metres left us little beach on the return so we were walking in amongst the drift wood. At low tide the 9 kms of beach is huge with beautiful soft sand.
The extra is a flower that I saw above the high tide mark I have no idea what it is called but I am sure someone will let me know. I was surprised to see it as it would have been windblown with salt spray.
