Winchester cathedral

Busy day largely out and about with Anu.  Rory came over to pick up his presents and headed off. I went and got my flu jab and then we went up to Winchester Hill for a walk and then lunch in the Buck’s Head in Meonstoke before going over to Winchester. I took something back into the Hambledon, bought a few Christmas presents and then we went into the Cathedral.  Obviously familiar to us for many years there were many things to show Anu, the Winchester bible, Jane Austen’s grave, the statue of the diver, the mediaeval encaustic tiles which are so glorious. Over all the visit the organist was playing, she apparently had been practising since 9am and it was a glorious powerful uplifting sound.

Home for dinner and I rustled up Shepherds Pie and we watched the new film, Harder they Fall, a black Western which was astonishingly violent but quite good.
