Pentre Ifan

“He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.”
Douglas Adams
Exploring a small part of west Wales today as the rains have moved away temporarily; beginning at Newport, where we’ve usually passed through and rarely, if ever, stopped. A short walk to the beach along the coast path followed by a visit to Carreg Coetan Arthur, a Neolithic dolmen. Next stop Nevern castle, hidden amongst the trees and once home to Welsh princes, followed by probably the most imposing and dramatic of the burial chambers, Pentre Ifan, in the shadow of the Preselis. Castell Henllys was a good follow-up, giving something of a reconstruction of life in an Iron Age village.
