Leaves on the river

This river has had so many leaves floating down it, and continuously so for weeks. When the tide goes out at the river mouth you can see where some of them have gone - there are big drifts of little soggy leaves uncovered. _Very_ soggy. But they must get swept out to sea after that because they’re not there for the rest of the year.
The colours of these leaves, though, shining in the dark water.
