N'Everest

As usual, we wait 21 months for a standy-up gig, and 2 come along together. Tonight however was a not a rescheduled gig, Public Service Broadcasting at the Barrowands, the best venue in da world, end of. zipit.com.

PSB initally began writing songs around audio clips of public service films from over 70 years ago, such as the night train, the spitfire, first ascent of everest etc, and on stage had oldie fashioned TV sets showing clips of said films along said the music. After their first album, the next all had themes, such as the space race, the Welsh coal mining industry (what?) and their latest, about Berlin.

We see each tour stepping up a gear and one of the band is purely there to live edit/mix the visuals with live footage of the band. For some songs, The Brassy Gents come on and always take centre stage with their synchronised dance moves and high jinx, that is until one song, Gargarin, where 2 dancing cosmonauts just raise the roof. It is just so much fun, the crowd love it, they love it, we love it....ahhhh.... we've not come across a band quite like them. Until next time...
