Sultry

Our gardenias are starting to flower. Their scent wafts around the garden. One writer describes this as

Sultry as a summer evening and as intoxicating as an exotic perfume, the scent of gardenias settles like a memory onto your soul. 

Well, maybe. 

Gardenias are native to tropical climates They do well here in the sub-tropics. We miss the plants of the cooler climate where we lived for the last 30 years, but are finding lots to appreciate here.
