A well, but is it holy?

We woke to a fine sunny day.  And so, despite waking quite late, and frittering most of the morning away, we eventually got ourselves into gear and drove up to Glenanair (or should that be Glenanaar?) to walk round Canon Sheehan's loop.  We had found information about the walk amongst the many leaflets in our flat.

Canon Sheehan was a priest working in Doneraile at the turn of the 19th to 20th Centuries, and wrote a number of novels.  One was called Glenanaar (which apparently translates to Glen of Slaughter).

We found the trailhead car park full to overflowing, but were lucky enough to find a space that must have just been vacated.  The first half of the walk was really lovely - along a river, amongst broadleaved trees dripping with moss and fungi.  At one point we came across this well.  A couple who were there when we arrived said it was a holy well, but I have found no mention of it in any of the descriptions of the walk online.  There were no statues or other decorations around it.

The second half of the walk was less interesting, along forestry trails.  But it was a lovely sunny afternoon, and we felt well exercised by the time we got back to the car.
