the Big Bang

I get a message from my friend Martin informing me that he’s singing in a concert this evening at the big Church just around the corner from where we live.  There’s a hint - by way of a link to an online ticket agency - that we may like to attend. It’s a performance on Haydn’s The Creation staged as part of Cop26 and climate awareness.

It’s clear from the moment we walk in, that it’s a big deal - a chamber orchestra and three professional singers as well as the local choir.  Not having been in the church before, I’m amazed at how they’ve all fitted in.

The concert is stunning - exceeding all expectations - and more than compensates for the couple of hours spent on the hard wooden benches.  In particular, the ‘let there be light’ sequence, where the orchestra and singers all come in together with their own big bang is just perfect for The Big Bang.
