A concrete love affair

Royal Victoria Park at Netley.

While Pam was working in Southampton for the afternoon I made a really wonderful visit to Royal Victoria Park at Netley. The Chapel building is all that remains of what was huge hospital site situated here, right by the coast, between 1860&1960. Quite a special trip for me, my Great Grandfather John served here during WWI. Ever since finding the extraordinary postcard collection belonging to my Great-Grandma featuring many postcards they exchanged with images of the hospitals ornate architecture I’ve always wanted visit. Brilliant tour by Owen, even got a lesson in bell ringing!
