this machine fights climate change

WFH in the morning due various online meetings. Then bike ride into KB. Today transport is being discussed at COP26. For some strange reason cycling is not on the agenda. It's been said many times before but: most journeys are short and easily doable by bike. Cycling is good because it keeps us fit - both physically and mentally; it helps us connect with our local place; it allows people who cannot drive (under 18 year olds or people who can't afford a car) to travel; accidents are less severe; allows higher traffic density; bikes do not take up as much space; do not pollute the air; have less embedded CO2; and do not contribute massively to climate change. What's not to like? Well, we'd need to reimagine our cities (I am mostly talking about cities where most people live, the countryside is a different issue). We would need to change our habits. We would need to figure out what we want to do with the spare productivity coming from fewer cars being built. There would be more space for people who actually need to use cars for whatever reason. Oh, and as a bonus there would be fewer reasons to fight wars over raw materials and exploit far away places.

I also found out that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  likes Irn-Bru. That makes her even more likeable. I do have huge respect for her.
