Newcastle Downunder

Lest we forget

I went hunting for some poppies today but Fort Scratchley was closed, possibly because of not opening up yet after Covid and there was a small ceremony at Civic Park.

This wreath was at the memorial for the Great War outside Townson Oval.  Not a poppy in sight and it was the only adornment of the memorial.   While it looks garish, they were real flowers.

I later went retail shopping.   There were 6 check in and check outs and showing of vaccination certificates.   I believe this is going to cease but we will still need to show our vaccination certificate for retail shopping.   I went to the Apple store.  I have to say I was unimpressed with having to book a "technical specialist" if you wanted to actually buy something.  There was going to be a 25 minute wait but surprisingly I was attended to straight away.  People leave and go shopping and come back at their appointed time.  Surely there has to be a better way of doing it.  A first world gripe from me tonight.

An early post as I am about to head out the door to see Priscilla.   This will be the third outing in as many weeks.   Such giddiness.
