Starling: Singing in the Sunlight

Better detail of its startling plumage in large ("L").

I went to Clapham Common this morning to visit Mr. Goosle; as soon as I parked I could hear this starling singing its heart out, and as soon as I crossed the road, I could see it up the tree with the light hitting its glorious plumage (I've blipped a close-up of a starling in sunlight before here). I find starlings baffling: from a distance they look so plain and dark, yet up close their plumage is quite extraordinary with its oily iridescence and white-tipped feathers. This one had its neck all ruffled up in a courtship display...
