It absolutely poured with rain last night, which is a good thing after months without. But we slept badly, woke late, and wimped out of going to the war memorial for the official 11/11 ceremony. Instead, I lit the fire early. And this is where I've been for much of the day.

I am trying to speed-read my French book club choice, Where the Crawdads Sing, before Monday. It's proving to be as crappy as ceridwen warned me it was. Having complained about modern French novels having no dialogue, I'm going to have to say that this book has lots of dialogue, all of it clunky and unconvincing. How do these books get into the bestseller lists? Something over a million copies sold.
