No Waste

Saturday now, but it is annoying finishing the the week with three consecutive site days. This dictates that that an accumulation of data needs processed today because everyone is expecting their data at the start of the week.

We had an unexpected visit from family, which was nice, and then of course Bruce and Caley needed their quality time too. All work and walks done we had a barbecue tonight such was the joy of another day in the sun albeit chilly. It must look a bit odd me standing there with the tongs turning bits of chicken wearing a mountain jacket and woolly hat. You live in Lochaber long enough you learn to cherish every day of sunshine because when it is bad it can rain three days out of two.

Chicken; if I may digress; I watched a youtube video of a guy cutting up a whole chicken a while back. Needless to say he made it look ludicrously easy. I have had a few goes at it now and I can cut up very waste free portions these days, or create the classic supreme cuts if a recipe demands. Tonight it was bits for the barbecue. We got two breasts cut in to three, two drumsticks, two boned out thighs and two wings. In addition we boiled what was left with some onion, leek and carrot to make stock and froze it. The most simple home made lentil soup tastes amazing made with this.

When the carcass is boiled and finished with there is still some meat left which falls off very easily. This is picked off a put in a bowl and Bruce and Caley get it for a tasty addition to their normal food.

Anyway, this is a picture, of M and Bruce making their way down off Machine Gun Hill at Achaderry.
