Sucking the nectar

We are seeing lots of these mainly white butterflies at the moment. I'm tentatively calling this a Caper White, helped by this webpage from the Australian Museum. That webpage notes that Caper Whites:

.... usually fly inland, west of the Great Dividing Range, but a westerly wind may blow them off course and they may then be seen by people living along the coast.


This one was feeding in a neighbour's garden. I think the plant is called Snow Maiden (Raphiolepsis indica). The photo shows the butterfly's proboscis plunging deeply into the flower to suck out nectar.
