Wound up in Wexford

Found in the woods

I hope the owner of the shoe is not lying elsewhere in the woods, hopelessly lost.

After the last couple of days, which have been long, and necessitated a lot of driving, we opted for a stay-at-home day.  We did get down to the local woods for a short meander, but rather than risk another session like this, when the path petered out, we prudently retraced our steps.

As we walked back, once again it rained on us, but the reward was a rather lovely rainbow.  The extra is slightly spoilt by a raindrop on the lens in the bottom right corner, but I liked the sunshine on the autumnal trees across the valley.

We called on our host as we returned, and spent a lovely couple of hours chatting over a cuppa about our activities and future plans.  She reassured us that there was no rush to leave in the morning as she has no new guests arriving for a few days.  Our ferry crossing isn't till late afternoon, so we can take our time packing, and enjoy our last drive through the Irish countryside.
