It's Those Volunteers Again!

I was Run Director at Parkrun today, which sounds very grand but in effect just means I did the talking bit so that runners knew where to go, how to stay safe and where to find the defibrillator (in my hand today as our local village hall have donated their spare to us!)

We have such a good volunteer team that the RD role has reduced in responsibilities as C manages the volunteers, several folks do the results and we have experienced folks doing the timing and scanning and marshalling, plus several D of E youngsters filling the gaps.

Bev and I walked down in the dark to set up the course.  It was a lovely, autumn morning and we enjoyed the sunrise as we put out the cones, direction signs and finish funnel.  Slowly other folks arrived and there were lots of greetings and banter and donning of high vis.  We commented on how diverse our runners are with speedy folks of both genders; an age range from babies in pushchairs to M in her 90s; different ethnic peoples; lots of youngsters and more walking parkrunners, all very cheery and enthusiastic.

Thank you team!

Had my Covid booster today, yay.
