Classical Style

After an unexpected offer to meet at Saltram House, Plymouth this morning, we had an enjoyable walk around the gardens. There is lots of Autumn colour at the moment and the children (and adults) are allowed to run through the piles of leaves on the lawns. It's so good that these special places are open for everyone to enjoy, and so full of wonders. This image shows a pair of classical statues that occupy alcoves on the side of the house. I had planned this shot in my mind on my last visit and today the light was ideal to capture the scene with the leaves of the overhanging beech tree in the foreground,
Although it was an afterthought, it is interesting that the female figure is fully clothed and the male figure is naked. Perhaps an antidote to the way things are often portrayed today!
