Much much better day. We’d decided to get up and out earlyish and had chosen the Pentlands walk from Flotterstone. Although it started a bit cloudy in town we set off anyway and were rewarded with a peach of a day. Almost immediately we headed down the path I felt better than all week and we so enjoyed the walk. Didn’t go right to the top but skirted around to the north about half way up (I really need to get an inhaler!), spotting and identifying mushrooms all along the path and keeping Paisley on the long line lead as - to our delight - there were no other dogs on the hill. She was enjoying all the smells and trotting along with what looked like a smile on her face! At one point a grouse (I think) was disturbed by us from the heather nearby and flew up with a clatter and squawks which gave us all a fright and she was desperate to chase it, but otherwise we just walked and chatted and kept stopping to admire the views and autumn colours.
Quite a few more dogs once we were walking back along the track at the other side of the reservoir but apart from lots of jumping she was pretty well behaved…she was probably exhausted!
We stopped at the lovely car park cafe and had the most delicious morning rolls with (scalding hot!) coffee and shared some banana bread. Perfect!
We were home by 1pm and relaxed a bit whilst Paisley fell fast asleep!
Did some food shopping and laundry then made curry for tomorrow night and sausages and mash for supper tonight followed by hot cross bun bread and butter pudding (A’s request!) which we shared with Ad, here for his last evening before moving to his student flat. Although he’s hardly been around and has been no trouble it will be good to have my box room and spare bed back!
We watched a film about Christopher Robin and his father AAMilne, then Strictly (quite a few in danger this week I suspect) then an extra episode of Showtrial which has been very good. We’ll finish it tomorrow.
