At the Old Lindis Pass Hotel

Today the Walking Group parked at Old Faithful Road, and walked from there to the ruins of the old Lindis Pass Hotel.  Three of us drove directly to the hotel and walked back down Old Faithful Road to meet the main group.

We all had our lunch at the ruins, then 7 of us walked to Wally Thompson's Concrete Hut about a kilometre on down the road.  He built the hut in the 1950's, near to where he was gold mining.  Sadly he was on the Air NZ flight that crashed into Mt Erebus in Antarctica in 1979.

The extras are:  (1)  At Wally Thompson's hut.  (2)  Lupins along the track  (3)  A view through a window in the hotel  (4)  Lupins near the old Hotel

We stopped at a cafe at Tarras for a welcome cuppa, before heading for home.  A wonderful day out, learning about the history of the Lindis
