The Watch House

A and I walked half the route to Blakeney Point along Cley Beach this morning.  It's not possible to view the grey seal breeding colony on foot, you have to go on a boat trip from Morston to do this.  However, we did get to see some of the seals in the distance (see extra).
The main blip is of The  Blakeney Watch House. This small building was used as lookout for sailors in distress and smugglers in the 1800s. It was also used in both World Wars as a lookout. The Watch House also featured in the thriller Black Shuck by Piers Warren.   It's owned by the Blakeney Watch House Trust and visitors can book to stay here (a maximum stay is 3 nights), but it's very basic and the outside toilets are in a separate block. see link below:

We were fortunate that the tide was out and we were able to walk along the firm sand rather than the shingle.
