stinger season..

..is still the go here in tropical north Queensland so while the waters lap to the beach, blue, warm and very inviting, a quick dip could have a very nasty ending.
The 'stingers' to be avoided are the Box Jellyfish and the Irukandji, stings from which can be lethal. Even paddling may be hazardous and the beach here has 'vinegar stations' all along it as pouring vinegar onto a sting may help.

So when we are on Green Island from tomorrow, and the temptation to swim with turtles and on a coral cay will be just too overpowering, we will wear stinger suits, and be safe.

A stinger is also a cocktail made with white creme de menthe and brandy. A perfect antidote to stinger season!
