A Journey Best Avoided

My blip today is an explanation as to why I have been absent for quite a number of weeks, we are on a journey best avoided.

My darling wife took ill about five weeks ago, unfortunately her cancer has returned. The tumours are aggressive and yesterday we were told palliative care was the only option.

She has been a chemotherapy survivor on two occasions previously, this time is a bridge too far.

Thirty years service with the NHS in a senior clinical position, retired at 55, followed by years as a volunteer driver for Cancer Care, ferrying cancer patients to and from the Beatson for their treatment, her way of paying back for all the life-saving cancer treatments she received after being diagnosed at age 38.

The next few months are going to be difficult, therefore I'm signing off for the foreseeable future.

It's been a pleasure meeting you all, good luck and make every day count.
