Egg rolling

1. In the ende of the Sabbath, as it began to dawne towards the first day of the weeke, came Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre.

2. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for the Angel of the Lord descended from heauen, and came and rolled backe the stone from the doore, and sate vpon it.

Matthew Chapter 8. King James Bible of 1611.

We are in full grandparental mode this weekend.

In this part of the world the tradition is for children to roll eggs down hillsides on Easter Sunday as a symbol of the rolling away of the rock from Jesus Christ's tomb prior his resurrection. And so it was an early start to the day, hard boiling of hens' eggs, painting them and then off to roll them down the sand dunes at the beach.
