Spring Lake from Above...

...Well, part of it anyway. Our walk around the hill yielded this picture of one end of the lake, still quite muddy from recent rains , but reflecting the sky and the tail end of the autumn color on this beautifully sunny morning. The California Conservation Corps was doing some kind of clean up , although it appeared that despite the earth moving equipment, they were mostly picking up stray twigs.

David was here when we got back from Trail House, sitting in exactly the same place I pictured him yesterday afternoon. He was in a bit of a funk because Greg didn't make it this morning, and making noises about throwing in the towel, so to speak,  and 'flipping burgers' because it has been so difficult to find dependable people to work for/with him. This pandemic has affected everybody in some way or another and everybody is getting tired and frustrated.

Dan and John are bottling their second batch of beer in the garage, and John told David that he has some 'real beer' in the fridge for when he finishes work today.

We are the 'fortunate ones' as we haven't been sick, and have managed to see our children and children occasionally, if not enough in some. cases. The fact that we are remodeling rather than rebuilding is a luxury when compared to the delays and frustrations being suffered by our neighbors. The rock breaking and removal effort continues on one side of us. The last time we spoke with the neighbors they said that so far they have removed 300 tons of rock in an effort to satisfy the county codes for foundations. The lot on the other side is still a lake and the pump construction seems to be moving at a glacial pace.

I'm posting this early as I have to make what I devoutly hope will be my last visit to the dermatologist, having satisfied  her need for a pound of flesh for the time being. John promised to have a glass of wine waiting for me when I get back. I'm hoping that the doctor won't be running late so that I don't have to drive home in the dark....
