Shape of Things to Come

Drove Kitty to the train station this morning after she stayed overnight.
It was the first time she has got the train on her own, so the short journey to school was ideal.
Said l would let her do it independently and stay in the car ; the ticket machine can be a little erratic at times.
Of all days the trains were delayed : slippery lines was the reason given, it’s usually leaves on the line but everyone scoffs at this suggestion so much that it  may have led to altering the wording.
Nevertheless a late train came at the time she needed to catch one, so all went well and l was left with an empty station.

Ironically today we hear that the North of England has been let down again by cancelling proposed improvements to our railway. We still suffer in these parts from Beeching closing down so many railway lines and stations in the sixties, many decisions just picked randomly from letters in the alphabet.
I am not bothered by the reduced times from Leeds to London but am saddened that the northern towns still have poor connections which ultimately means more cars on the roads. Rant over.
