It all happened so quickly...

... at the bird hide this morning.

Although, to start with, the hide was locked and I went in search of someone with a key. A couple of minutes later, I was in the hide and the hatches were open.

Then the friendly member of staff noticed the birdfeeders were empty - so he filled them up and left me to set up my gear.

First on the feeder (no more than 20 seconds after they were filled) was this Great Spotted Woodpecker and it didn't leave until its face had been well and truly stuffed. Meanwhile no other birds even attempted to feed.

Next in line was the nuthatch in my extra. So - no great surprises there then.
