The wrong shield!

Today we went to a local pub for the bowling group's end of season meal and shield presentation for the competition.  F had won it for four of the five years that it's been going and he came second in the other year.  As you can imagine, he gets lots of funny comments about it.

It's sponsored and presented by an insurance firm in the town. The shield was mistakenly sent to the park where we play but it was not there when the man from the company went to get it. Meanwhile we were all sitting waiting for it to arrive and the pub had to put the meal on hold.

After much toing and froing it was established that someone from another bowling group had seen it and taken it home to give to our leader.

The man from the insurance company used his initiative and went to the engraving firm and borrowed a football club shield to use for the presentation and photos. 

F and his partner were duly presented with the substitute shield.  The local newspaper failed to send a photographer which they usually do (they were probably too busy with the by election).  I was the only person with a camera so my photos are being sent to the paper.

The meal was very tasty and the company was good so everything worked out in the end.  The blip is of them and the wrong shield.
