Totem

A specially commissioned totem pole called Totem Latamat has come from Mexico, via COP26 in Glasgow and various other places, and is now at the Crichton campus in Dumfries.  It was carved by Jun Tiburico to draw attention to how climate change affects indigenous peoples and tomorrow there is a ceremony to return it to the earth.  It was apparently carved from a single tree and at its final destination will be surrounded by other trees and will be allowed to decay naturally.  This is a close up of the top half.
