Double Celebration

Blip tells me that today is my 2500th blip but it is also our golden wedding anniversary today so another 50 in the numbers. We celebrated by going out for a walk to the top of the highest mountain, called Garajonay, on the island and later we had a mid afternoon prawn lunch. The mountain in the main shot is called the Fortaleza, a 1243 metre high plateau reaching a length of about 300 metres, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. It was a sacred place for the old inhabitants of the island and  had altars for sacrifice. The first extra shows part of the ancient forest we walked through on our way down from the top and the second is one of the small hamlets where we sometimes have lunch in the bus stop shelter before starting our ascent on a longer walk. As can be seen from the sky it has been a lovely day today. The eagle eyed will just spot another island in the distance, El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands just nestled under a cloud.
