Kays

I’m old enough to remember when people shopped from big catalogues several inches thick which featured everything from bras to kettles. We were in Worcester today and I noticed this impressive old building in the Tything.  William Kay had it built specially in 1907. It was considered a very modern building at the time with central heating , electric lifts and and a telephone system!
It cost £16,800 to build. What would you get for that now. A small second hand car?
It has now been converted to luxury apartments and offices.
The catalogues were handy for people who lived away from big shopping areas and you could spread the cost over several months. Bit like that new fangled  Klarna.
How shopping has changed over the years.
