A concrete love affair

Wollaton Hall is Wayne Manor

We went for an Easter picnic at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham! I have been referring to the house as "Wayne Manor" because it is used in several scenes in the most recent Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, which I very much enjoy.

The exterior is wonderfully decadent, lots of splendid little details to beguile your eye and charm beyond the robust facade. Its shape is emblematic, sturdy near-monumental in posture. Although almost 400 years before my favourite era in architecture I still very much appreciate this super fine house!

Also it was lovely to walk round and figure out exactly where director Christopher Nolan and Director of Photography Wally Pfister stood when they shot scenes with Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt et al...

Overall a lovely day!
