Anne's Daily Encounters

Let's go for a coffee

Sweetheart's Dutch friend invited us for a coffee and than Sweetheart suggested we drive up to Spili and from there onwards up to one of his fav restaurants on Crete; Drymos.

That's quite a drive to get to that restaurant, but that's pretty normal for Greek folks...
Recently I phoned with another Dutch friend (we're friends from our childhoods onwards) who lives over 35 years in Thessaloniki, what's way up North in Greece, close to Bulgaria, but her Greek man from there is like Sweetheart here on Crete ~ and we imagine like many Greeks all over Greece.......They are willing to drive a long distance to get to a restaurant for a meal, but they don't like to make a stop on the way towards that restaurant. They don't fancy a walk in the other environment, they don't fancy sightseeing, except for visiting shops.

And today our day out with our Dutch friend from Chania and his Greek wife, showed us two Dutch again how much we differ from Sweetheart, who really avoids a walk, and my Greek lady-friend who starts to take to her Dutch man's liking = walking.
We Dutchies endulged in the mountains, and I made a few stops for us to catch at the least some foto's. We hope to get away by mid December for a walk.
