Sonoma Highway

I vowed to get a picture of something besides the landscape, but the Sonoma Valley is ever changing and always reminds me how lucky we are to live where we do. I liked this picture because it shows the back side of the hills we look at from our garden.  They have been hard hit by fires in 2017 and 2020, but are beginning to show some  signs of coming back, as well as of fire breaks put in by Cal Fire. The vineyards are turning and the grapes are all in so it is a quiet season in the valley. The grape crates are all stacked  and soon all the leaves will fall and the vines will be readied for a winter rest.

We took Spike to the Sonoma Valley Regional Park where we have rediscovered another good place for him to run. The extra shows a view out toward the East Bay and Mt. Diablo. The silver streak at the base of the mountains is the northernmost part of the San Francisco Bay and there is a little lake down in the midst of the trees.

All was quiet and serene in the neighborhood when we got home. Spike was having trouble retrieving his Kong with all the beeping going on as he uses some kind of echolocation to tell him which direction it was thrown so  I took advantage of the peace and quiet  today to give him a workout. More noise tomorrow, but this time it will be our own doing as the tree guys will be working to rid us of the brown leaves that have clung tenaciously to the trees.

My neighbor just sent me a picture of Spike that she she took while she was visiting this afternoon. I'll put it in the extras too....
