RMS Titanic.

The bench with the plaque faces the river at Churchill Gardens in Salisbury. In memory of the couple who left Salisbury to seek a better life in the USA.
Neal McNamee was born in Co Donegal, he worked for Liptons in Salisbury. He and Eileen , who also worked for Liptons in the city, were married on 12th Jan 1912. He was offered a position with Liptons in Philadelphia. The couples ticket in 3rd Class cost £16 -- 2s.(value in todays money about £800).
Eileen, born in 1892, lived on the Wilton road . She was presented with a letter of thanks and a gift from the Mayor of Salisbury just before heading to Southampton to board the Titanic.
After the ships sinking, the cable laying ship `Mackay Bennett` found her body with the ticket in her purse, along with wedding ring and 1s and 11p. She was buried at sea on 22nd  April, along with 200 others. Neals body was not recovered. His probate of £10 was awarded to his father.
