Robert Peel

Standing proudly and full of grace in front of Bury Parish church. This Monument denotes possibly the most famous son of Bury. Born 5 February 1788 and died 2 July 1850. Robert Peel was the founder of the the British modern police force, known as the Peelers. And was Prime Minister of Britain from 10 December 1834 to 8 April 1835.

In this little triangle of Bury you SHOULD be able to see a public convenience to the left of the statue. The toilets were undergorund, much like the toilets of Dan Dan the toilet man in carry on screaming. After much redesigning of Bury, the toilets were covered over with a pedestrianised area. Something tells me they are still there.

Bury is full of history. Which i shall be blipping over the next few months.
