On the Boardwalk of Atlantic City

Many years ago the casinos were described as the savior to the famed Atlantic City, home of the Miss America pageant, large conventions, beautiful beaches, and the Steel Pier, with the ballroom and the diving horse....  Just like other cities, it was losing its luster.  Why not introduce gambling?  Bring in the big guys from Vegas, gambling, big shows, Trump, top names in entertainment.  That will fix it.  The streets will be clean.  The neighborhoods would be restored.  The New Jersey coffers would overflow.

None of this has happened.  Aside from a dozen or so big fancy hotels and casinos, the city seems dismal and worse than ever.

The ocean is still beautiful.  The boardwalk structure, itself is healthy and intact.

Of course, it is mid November and my perception could be misled by the time of year, the weather, and the pandemic.

and, the guy in the extra was contemplating his loses...

Gina and I offered and lost our limit of $20.00 to the machines in The Ocean Resort, and Caesers.  Parking was $10.00.  We walked 4 miles on the boardwalk and had a lovely afternoon.
