Have an Easter Egg...

...What??

The little grands came up last night with this splendid cake decorated single-handedly by Maya. Once it got dark they had a hunt for glow-the-dark eggs. The beauty of this hunt was twofold:
1) Ozzie looked very fetching with a glowing necklace.
2)The eggs could be found and rehidden over and over. (The designated hiders got tired of this but Owen never did,)

Everybody was up early this morning for the main event. There were at least 100 plastic eggs with little goodies inside them hidden all over--inside and out. I found Owen waiting at the front door in his pajamas and shoes. The timing for the outdoor portion was perfect. Most of the eggs were located before the skies opened in the first of a series of drenching cloudbursts.

When Dana and Jim and the big boys arrived for brunch we slowly started in on our second round of food with scones, frittata and asparagus salad. While the women oversaw things on the domestic front, the men huddled in the office with Will trying to solve his trigonometry homework, and Peter (dubbed "SweetP" by Tim and Owen) kept Owen entertained. Ozzie still refuses to use his newly installed dog door, and found himself on the wrong side of it most of the time. I think if he can see us through the human door, he sees no reason why a human can't open the door for him, even though it is but a few steps to the dog door where he can come in by himself. I think I may have noticed a certain parallel here with the thought processes of the grandchildren....

Now everyone has headed for home, and we are enjoying some fairly spectacular thunderstorms while we pack for a trip to visit my brother and his wife near San Diego tomorrow.

Happy Easter, evrybody.
