Breakey Blips

Watch out! A new Queen Scout!

In the middle of a busy school academic program for the last 2 years, Miss C has faithfully attended venture scouts and taken part in most programs or camps available.

In the middle of lockdown last year, she took stock of what she had done and realised that the Queen Scout award was within her capabilities, if she was just a bit more intentional about it.

So in January, 2 other Venturers and her planned a 6 day cycling tour along the Murray River with another 3 friends. I was so impressed, it was very hot and difficult, but they made the distance, camped safely, eat well, encouraged each other and managed to keep the parents at home updated.

That was the big trip that will be a landmark of their teenage years.
Miss C taught herself a new skill, crochet and produced a few pieces of increasing difficulty following a pattern, and then adapted a crochet lace pattern for a book mark into a large woolly cushion.

Then there was the sport she embraced from a literally standing start - goal umpire for women's Aussie rules footie. Being fully committed, she even won a prize from the umpiring association!

And so it goes on. Today was the final hurdle. Meet the Region Commissioner and discuss the whole journey.
And she passed!

Phew! I have stood on the sidelines encouraging and cheering, so I feel an involvement, but this was her journey. As a team player and by herself.
What a proud mum I am!
