A walk by the unfrozen lake at sunset

Water! Not ice!

Male robins, red-winged blackbirds and grackles are trickling back. Some are fighting for territories, calling loudly from outposts hoping to attract a mate when the females arrive in a few days. Others gather together, getting ready to push on farther north on their overnight flight. Red-necked grebes bob their heads together braying their love song. A flock of pintails sped north overhead getting an early start.

My husband and I walked hand in hand enjoying our own springtime.
