Hiraeth on Thanksgiving Day

More than any other holiday, Thanksgiving draws you home even if it is only in your mind.  At least it is that way for me.  I love this Welsh word (pronounced Here-eye-tha, emphasis on the first syllable) which seems so appropriate for today.  This photo was taken around Thanksgiving in 1957.  That's my grandpa's car.  He was always with us at Thanksgiving and Auntie Doris's family often joined us as well.  There were so many for dinner at times that children had their own small table while the grownups ate at a larger table.  Well, whoever you celebrate with today, I hope it brings lovely memories for you along with the cranberry sauce and stuffing.
