Common Enchantments

Spring House

I don’t know if I have ever taken a photo of the spring house. The water here at my sons come directly out of the mountain into a catch basin in this little house. The basin is covered with two layers of screen and a piece of plywood to keep anything from getting in the water. In the four years he has lived here nothing has invaded the house. The spring house is normally cold as it is built into the earth but the water has never frozen. Strange. The water is gravity piped to a buried cistern where it is then pumped and piped to the tank under the house. My son has this tank and pipes well insulated for cold weather.

Then are several other natural springs coming out of the hill behind his home. He has worked to make ditches and French drains to move the water to the creek so the fields would not stay sopping wet all the time. He has channeled two of the springs into watering tanks for Dolly the horse.

He takes after his Dad in being able to figure out how to make things work or to fix things for the better.

And yes, the water is extra cold when we turn it on and tastes wonderful! On Thursday of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for good natural water.
