Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The harbour mouth

The sea is remarkably calm after an extremely wild night thanks to storm Arwen which brought 100 mph winds. Lots of roads blocked with fallen trees, buildings seriously damaged  and thousands of people still without power. We are thankful to have escaped unscathed.
Apparently Arwen is a name of Welsh origin and means “fair” or “good”. Not the best choice for a major storm!

Late extra! I have just had a wander around the village. Arwen, the wind, has blown the village electric-car charger clean out of the ground! How ironic is that?
