At Last!

It was all mad dash first thing this morning.  Rob had placed a tracker in their furniture when it was shipped from Boston (three and a half months ago) and this morning it beeped to say it was on the M40, just a short distance away.  The moving company had said it would be 9 am and that it would come in two smaller shipments over two days due to the tightness of parking on their street.  What turned up was the full container at 8am, so as I whizzed Euan off to nursery, the street apparently filled with honking drivers as the truck manoeuvred very skilfully in to position.  Then it was full on for the rest of the day.

The team of three did a super job of unloading all the boxes and furniture.  There were mutterings about American packers and I could understand why.  I was in charge of unpacking the kitchen things and I found one tin lid which had been wrapped in three A3 sheets of paper!  The boxes came numbered and with contents written on the side.  It took a while to work out what 'Burrow' was.......bureau.

Once the truck was unloaded it left, whilst the packing team set about unpacking and putting up beds and tables and sofas etc.  They were very efficient.  Becky ordered in burgers and chips all round at lunchtime then we cracked on until coming up to 4pm when the team clocked off.

Phew!  Tony set off to pick up Euan from Nursery and Becky and I made the house as Euan proof as we could, bearing in mind the number of boxes etc still filling every room.  Euan arrived and immediately discovered some old favourite story books and toys, and seemed unphased by the transformation to his new home.

None of us felt like cooking so curries were ordered in.  Rob arrived back from Denmark in the late evening and we opened a bottle of wine before heading for bed after much telling of Danish adventures and unpacking stories.
