April fool's joke?

He's a bit of a wag, so when our local newsagent told us this morning that the Chupa Chups logo was designed by Salvador Dali we thought this must be an April Fool's joke. He brought out a book of Dali paintings from under the counter, which did surprise us, but as he didn't actually show us a reference we weren't convinced.

Anyway, the website for these sweeties and several others support this allegation! Apparently Dali was commissioned by the Spanish makers to do this, as you can see here.

What do you know!! Almost makes up for the paucity of good April Fool's jokes around this year. Oh for the heady days of 1977.
