Project 365 day 334: Hazel Catkins

There are still yellow hazel leaves in the garden, and even a few green ones, but most have now shrivelled to brown. The bare branches and twigs, though, are covered with tiny catkins, which have already been developing for several weeks - as well as the odd out of focus spider. I chose these today for Tiny Tuesday (thank you Sheol for hosting) and for National Tree Week in the UK; and also because my only daylight photography opportunity on this gloomy day was five minutes in the garden before lunch, and this hazel is very close to the house.

For those who were interested in my photos of J's pressed leaf animation in progress, she has uploaded it to Vimeo today. It was made at home, with her PA moving the leaves and J shooting using the stop motion software, and subsequently editing the animated clips, using her throat activated switch to control the mouse with Grid 3 computer control software. I blipped about this here, and the animation can be viewed here; it's just over a minute long. J asked P to compose music for it; he is relatively new to composition and this is his first "commission".
