J2RR

Today, I visited Lochore Meadows Country Park, Fife.
Beside the loch, there was a small flock of wintering black-headed gulls and I noticed that one had a coloured (white) ring on its leg with black J2RR on it. The camera's telephoto was good enough to get the details so I used Google to track it down.
I now know that it was ringed as a chick in Oslo, Norway, in June 2013.
It regularly commutes between Oslo (April/May/June) and Lochore (late July to March)
In Oslo it is regularly reported from a lake 7km east of Oslo.
In the UK it has frequently, but only ever been reported from Lochore.

That seems very loyal of it.

A similar bird, JHZ1, re-visits Fife every year and has only ranged between Burntisland and Kirkcaldy (5 miles) whilst here.
