Exhibition

The Infiesto Library has a very strong record of exposing gender violence, with posters and notices regularly in its windows. At the moment it also has an exhibition in its gallery-room. What my photo shows is one end wall in that room. Each exhibit is the portrait of a woman who has been abused, just her head and shoulders shown, without signs of abuse, just a well-made professional portrait; and all of the people shown have volunteered to be included.. Each portrait is cased in a lttle wooden framework and a sign says that there´s a person inside. You can´t see the portrait till you open the door. It´s forbidden to take photos that show the portraits, for "security reasons", and there´s a guard to make sure you don´t. He was outside having a cigarette while I took this one, but I made sure there was no breach of security.
At one end of the exhibition is a feature about gender violence, its nature and incidence.
