Cape Foulwind, lighthouse

Always wondered about this address - Cape Foulwind. Quite a nice day here but it can't have been like that when Captain Cook visited about 1769.

Lighthouses have always been an intrigue too. To read about the lives of lighthouse keepers and their families has always been intriguing too. These, including this one, are of course, unmanned nowadays.

We were biking the new trail from Westport to Charleston but it only goes to Tauranga Bay about 16 kms at the moment. They are working on it and hope to complete the approx 50km by the end of next year. So it is a lovely varied track with beaches, bush, farmland about grade 2 riding.
