Stanley dock

Today after a quick stop at Anfield (Father Christmas was visiting the shop! ) we carried on into Liverpool.  We went along the Dock Road and passed a place that has always fascinated me: Stanley dock with its Bascule bridge and to the left, the Tobacco warehouses.  I remember being fascinated by a film by some urban explorers who managed to enter the derelict buildings and visiting them.  There used to be a Sunday? market.  Urban explorers if you are interesting more links at the bottom.  Can’t find the film I saw ages ago!

These warehouses were multimodal, designed to be accessible by rail, road, canal and sea.

Under the Bascule bridge runs the link between the canal system and the Liverpool docks and the Mersey.  On the other side of the bridge is the Jesse Hartley Octagonal clock.

Interesting link showing how it used to be “The Liverpool link”

This time I was delighted to see that there is a new Hotel there within one of the warehouses: The Titanic!  The other warehouse is to be apartments etc.. The Titanic hotel.

Later we had lunch with eldest daughter and her husband.  So so good to see them both! The home via B&Q, Asda and Tesco! Only for a couple of things in each!!  A really useful first day of freedom!
